Galilee was Jesus’ northern home region; Judea, Jerusalem, and the Jordan area lay to the south and east, while Idumea was farther south and Tyre and Sidon were Phoenician coastal cities northwest of Galilee. Their mention shows that crowds came from across Jewish and Gentile-associated regions in response to Jesus’ ministry.
