Galilee was the northern region of Israel where Jesus conducted much of his public ministry. Gennesaret was a fertile plain on the western shore of the Sea of Galilee; landing there after crossing the lake places the disciples and Jesus near populated villages where his healing ministry would immediately become widely known.
