The Holy Place was the inner sanctuary of Jerusalem’s temple, whose desecration signaled the crisis Jesus described; Judea was the surrounding Jewish region, where his followers were told to flee. The Mount of Olives, east of Jerusalem, was the setting for this discourse, overlooking the city and temple whose coming judgment frames the warning.
