Although Numbers 26:12 names Simeon’s clans, the census occurs on the plains of Moab by the Jordan opposite Jericho, after Israel’s journey from Egypt through the Wilderness of Sinai. These places frame the new generation being counted before entering Canaan, the land God promised them.
