The census in Numbers 26 was taken on the plains of Moab, east of the Jordan near Jericho, as Israel prepared to enter Canaan. Egypt and the Wilderness of Sinai recall the generation delivered from bondage but largely lost through unbelief, highlighting God’s preservation of their descendants.
