Egypt, poetically called Ham’s land, was the place of Israel’s bondage and the setting of God’s plagues, including the death of Egypt’s firstborn. Zoan was an Egyptian royal city associated with those wonders, while Shiloh and Mount Zion later mark God’s dwelling among Israel before and after the ark’s removal to Jerusalem.
