What does the Bible say about actions at law?

The Bible teaches that believers should pursue justice with integrity while holding their personal rights loosely and responding to wrongs with Christlike love. In Matthew 5:40, Jesus tells His disciples that if someone sues for their tunic, they should be willing even to give their cloak, exposing the generosity and nonretaliation that mark citizens of His kingdom. This does not forbid lawful courts or deny the proper work of civil justice, but it forbids a vindictive, grasping spirit. Christians may seek rightful protection, yet they are called to value peace, mercy, and their neighbor’s good above personal advantage, trusting God as the final Judge.
