The Bible warns against a hard, stubborn heart toward God, while calling His servants to stand firm in faithful obedience. In Ezekiel 3:9, God made Ezekiel resolute like adamant so that he would not fear a rebellious people; such firmness rests on God’s strengthening grace, not human self-will. By contrast, Zechariah 7:12 condemns those who made their hearts like adamant stone, refusing God’s law and the words sent by His Spirit through the prophets. Scripture therefore commends steadfast faithfulness to God but condemns obstinate unbelief. The Lord softens hearts by His grace, giving His people humility to receive His Word and courage to obey it.
