What does the Bible say about assurance?

Bible Topic · WEB

The Bible teaches that believers may have a settled assurance of salvation and access to God through faith in Christ, grounded in his finished work and God’s faithful promise rather than their changing feelings. In Ephesians 3:12 and Hebrews 10:22, Christ gives confidence to draw near to God with sincere faith. Paul’s assurance in 2 Timothy 1:12 rests on knowing the One who keeps him. Hebrews 6:11, 6:19 calls believers to diligent hope anchored within the veil. Love for fellow Christians, described in 1 John 3:14, 3:19, offers confirming evidence of new life, while perfecting love casts out slavish fear (1 John 4:18). Such assurance produces peace, righteousness, and steadfast hope.
