What does the Bible say about being alone?

The Bible teaches that no believer is ultimately abandoned, for God is near to the lonely and calls his people into fellowship with himself and one another. In Genesis 2:18, God declares that it is not good for man to be alone, and Ecclesiastes 4:9-10 commends the strength of faithful companionship. Yet when human support fails, Christ remains: Hebrews 13:5 promises that he will never leave or forsake his people, and Psalms 23:4 assures us of his presence in dark valleys. Jesus himself faced abandonment in John 16:32-33, but overcame the world, giving his disciples peace. Cast your cares on the Lord, who is near to the brokenhearted.
