What does the Bible say about born again christians?
Bible Topic · WEB
The Bible teaches that becoming a Christian requires God’s gracious work of new birth, producing repentance, faith in Christ, and a transformed life. Jesus says one must be born again to see and enter God’s kingdom, born of water and the Spirit (John 3:3, 3:5). This new life rests on Christ’s saving death and resurrection, not on human merit: we are saved by grace through faith (John 3:16; Ephesians 2:8-9). God brings believers to life through his living Word (1 Peter 1:23), joins them to Christ in baptism as a sign of dying and rising with him (Romans 6:4), and calls them to obey him sincerely (Matthew 7:21).

[18] Because Christ also suffered for sins once, the righteous for the unrighteous, that he might bring you to God; being put to death in the flesh, but made alive in the spirit; [19] in which he also went and preached to the spirits in prison, [20] who before were disobedient, when God waited patiently in the days of Noah, while the ark was being built. In it, few, that is, eight souls, were saved through water. [21] This is a symbol of baptism, which now saves you-- not the putting away of the filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good conscience toward God, through the resurrection of Jesus Christ, [22] who is at the right hand of God, having gone into heaven, angels and authorities and powers being made subject to him.
