What does the Bible say about boundaries?
Bible Topic · WEB
The Bible teaches that wise, loving boundaries help us honor God, bear our own responsibilities, and pursue peace without being ruled by others' sins or demands. Galatians 6:5 calls each person to carry his own load, while Proverbs 25:17 commends restraint even in ordinary relationships. Scripture warns against binding ourselves closely to ungodly influences and hot-tempered companions, as 2 Corinthians 6:14 and Proverbs 22:24 teach. Yet boundaries are not excuses for harshness: Proverbs 15:1 and Colossians 4:6 call believers to answer gently and graciously. Because the Lord assigns our times and places, Acts 17:26 and Psalms 16:5-9 encourage contentment, trust, and faithful stewardship within the limits He provides.
