The Bible shows that those entrusted with public responsibility should provide needed supplies faithfully and orderly, recognizing that all provision ultimately comes from God. In 1 Kings 4:7-19, Solomon appointed officers over districts to supply the king’s household, and 1 Kings 4:27-28 describes their careful provision of food and fodder without shortage. Such administration served the peace and stability of the kingdom. Yet 2 Kings 3:9 also reminds us that human plans and resources can fail, leaving rulers and armies dependent upon the Lord’s mercy.
