What does the Bible say about crucifixion?

Bible Topic · WEB

The Bible teaches that Christ’s crucifixion is the saving center of God’s redemptive plan, where Jesus bore the curse of sin for His people and secured their new life in Him. Galatians 3:13 declares that Christ redeemed us from the law’s curse by becoming a curse for us. Though crucifixion was shameful, seen in the suffering of Christ among criminals in Matthew 27:38, God displayed His wisdom, justice, and mercy there. By faith, believers are united to the crucified Savior: their old self is crucified with Him (Romans 6:6), and they now live by faith in the Son of God, who loved them and gave Himself for them (Galatians 2:20). Therefore Christians boast only in Christ’s cross (Galatians 6:14).
