What does the Bible say about death and birth?

Bible Topic · WEB

The Bible teaches that birth and death lie under God’s wise rule: he forms each person, appoints our days, and calls us to live for him amid life’s changing seasons. Psalm 139:13-16 and Jeremiah 1:5 affirm God’s personal knowledge and care before birth, while Ecclesiastes 3:1-22 recognizes a time to be born and a time to die. Death is the wages of sin, yet for those united to Christ it does not have the final word, for they belong to the Lord in life and death (Romans 6:23; Romans 14:7-9). Christians therefore face mortality with sober hope, trusting that to be away from the body is to be at home with the Lord (2 Corinthians 5:6-8).
