What does the Bible say about everything in moderation?
Bible Topic · WEB
The Bible commends self-control and thankful enjoyment of God’s good gifts, while warning that no created thing should rule the believer’s heart or lead to sin. Ecclesiastes 3:1-8 recognizes fitting seasons in God’s providence, and 1 Timothy 4:2-5 teaches that God’s gifts are to be received with thanksgiving. Yet 1 Corinthians 6:12 insists that Christians must not be mastered by anything, for their bodies belong to Christ. Ephesians 5:18 and 1 Peter 5:8 call for sober-minded vigilance rather than intoxication or spiritual carelessness. Christian freedom is therefore governed by love, holiness, and what builds others up, as 1 Corinthians 10:23 teaches.
