What does the Bible say about financial hardship?

The Bible teaches that financial hardship is a real trial in a fallen world, yet God remains sovereign, near to his people, and faithful to supply their true needs according to his wise purpose. Jesus says in John 16:33 that believers will have trouble, but may take heart because he has overcome the world. Philippians 4:19 assures Christians of God’s provision in Christ, not a promise of wealth or ease.
