What does the Bible say about fortune tellers?

Bible Topic · WEB

The Bible forbids seeking guidance, power, or hidden knowledge from fortune tellers, mediums, and other occult practices, calling His people to seek the Lord alone. Leviticus 19:31 and 20:6 warn that turning to mediums defiles and alienates a person from God, while Deuteronomy 18:10-12 names divination and sorcery among practices detestable to Him. Isaiah 8:19 directs the troubled to inquire of their God rather than the dead. Scripture also shows such practices bringing judgment, as with Saul in 1 Chronicles 10:13-14. In Acts 16:16-18, Paul delivers a slave girl from a spirit of divination. The gospel calls us to trust Christ, whose wisdom and providence are sufficient for our future.
