What does the Bible say about free time?

Bible Topic · WEB

The Bible teaches that our free time is a gift from God to be received with gratitude and used wisely for his glory, our good, and our neighbor's good. Ephesians 5:15-17 calls believers to walk carefully and make the best use of time because the days are evil, seeking the Lord's will rather than drifting thoughtlessly. Since Christ has all authority and sends his people into the world, Matthew 28:18-20 reminds us that leisure should not replace faithful discipleship. Yet Scripture does not forbid enjoyment: 1 Corinthians 10:23 and 10:31 teach that lawful activities must be beneficial and done to God's glory. James 4:13-15 humbles our plans beneath God's providence.
