What does the Bible say about gathering?
Bible Topic · WEB
The Bible teaches that God gathers his people to worship him, receive his Word, pray, encourage one another, and grow together in faithful obedience. From Israel’s sacred assemblies in Exodus 35:1 and Leviticus 23:36 to the early church’s devotion in Acts 2:42, God calls his covenant people into visible fellowship. Jesus promises his gracious presence when believers gather in his name (Matthew 18:20). Such meetings are to build up the whole body through prayer, teaching, praise, and orderly use of spiritual gifts (1 Corinthians 14:26; Acts 1:14). Hebrews 10:24-25 especially urges Christians not to neglect meeting together, but to stir one another toward love and good works as Christ’s return draws near.
