What does the Bible say about good deeds to go to heaven?
Bible Topic · WEB
The Bible teaches that no one goes to heaven by earning it through good deeds, but by God’s grace received through faith in Jesus Christ. Ephesians 2:8-9 says salvation is God’s gift, not the result of works, because all people are sinners and fall short of God’s glory (Romans 3:23). Even our best righteousness cannot cleanse us from sin (Isaiah 64:6), and sin deserves death (Romans 6:23). God gave His Son so that whoever believes in Him may have eternal life (John 3:16), for Jesus alone is the way to the Father (John 14:6). Those who confess Christ and believe in Him are saved (Romans 10:9), then live in good works as the fruit of salvation (Ephesians 2:10).
