What does the Bible say about grace?

The Bible teaches that grace is God’s free, undeserved favor toward sinners, saving and sustaining His people through Jesus Christ rather than through their works. Ephesians 2:8-9 declares that salvation is God’s gift, received by faith, so that no one may boast. Romans 5:8 shows this grace in Christ’s death for us while we were still sinners, and Romans 11:6 insists that grace and works cannot be mixed as the basis of acceptance with God. Yet grace does not excuse sin: Romans 6:14 says believers are no longer under law but under grace. God’s grace also strengthens the weak, as 2 Corinthians 12:9 promises, and gives humble believers confidence to draw near for mercy and help (Hebrews 4:16).
