What does the Bible say about grief?

Bible Topic · WEB

The Bible teaches that grief is a real sorrow in a fallen world, yet God meets his people with compassion, comfort, and the sure hope of redemption. Jesus calls mourners blessed in Matthew 5:4, promising that they will be comforted, and Psalm 34:18 assures us that the Lord is near to the brokenhearted. God heals wounds of the heart (Psalm 147:3) and invites believers to cast every care on him because he cares for them (1 Peter 5:7). Christ gives a peace the world cannot give (John 14:27), and Revelation 21:4 promises the day when God will wipe away every tear.
