What does the Bible say about honoring children?

The Bible teaches that children are precious gifts from God, to be received with love, instructed in his truth, and disciplined with patient care rather than harshness. In Ephesians 6:1-4, children are called to honor and obey their parents in the Lord, while fathers are commanded not to provoke their children but to raise them in the discipline and instruction of the Lord. Genesis 2:24 grounds family life in God’s design for marriage, from which children are ordinarily nurtured within a covenant household.
