What does the Bible say about marrying a non christian?

The Bible teaches that Christians should seek marriage with a fellow believer, while those already married to an unbeliever should faithfully remain if the spouse is willing to live with them. Second Corinthians 6:14 warns against being unequally yoked with unbelief, and 1 Corinthians 7:39 says a widow is free to marry “only in the Lord,” pointing believers toward covenant partnership in shared faith and obedience. Yet 1 Corinthians 7:12-16 gives hope and instruction for mixed marriages: the believing spouse should not initiate divorce merely because of the other’s unbelief.
