What does the Bible say about mothers and daughters?
Bible Topic · WEB
The Bible teaches that mothers and daughters are called to honor God through faithful love, instruction, respect, and lives shaped by His covenant grace. Children are commanded to honor their parents, while parents are to train them in wisdom and godliness (Exodus 20:12; Proverbs 22:6). A mother’s sincere faith can deeply bless the next generation, as seen in Lois and Eunice (2 Timothy 1:5). Proverbs praises the godly woman whose children rise and call her blessed (Proverbs 31:25-31). Yet Scripture also honestly recognizes that sin can divide even close family relationships (Luke 12:53). Therefore, mothers and daughters need Christ’s mercy, forgiveness, and the Spirit’s help to cultivate humble, faithful love.
