What does the Bible say about overcoming the world?
Bible Topic · WEB
The Bible teaches that believers overcome the world not by their own strength, but through faith in Jesus Christ, who has already conquered sin, Satan, and death. Jesus gives courage in John 16:33 because he has overcome the world, and 1 John 5:4-5 says that everyone born of God shares this victory through faith in the Son. God’s Spirit within his people is greater than the evil at work in the world (1 John 4:4). Christians therefore resist the devil, trust the Lord’s guidance, and endure temptation by his provided grace (James 4:7; Proverbs 3:5-6; 1 Corinthians 10:13). They conquer through Christ’s atoning blood and faithful testimony (Revelation 12:11).
