What does the Bible say about parricide?

The Bible condemns parricide as a grievous sin, for it violates God’s command to honor parents and His prohibition against murder. In 2 Kings 19:37, 2 Chronicles 32:21, and Isaiah 37:38, Sennacherib is killed by his own sons after the Lord has judged his pride and blasphemy. These accounts do not excuse the sons’ violence or present it as a model for human justice; rather, they show that God sovereignly brings down the wicked, even through sinful human acts for which people remain responsible. Believers are therefore called to reverence life, honor rightful family bonds, and leave vengeance and final judgment to God.
