What does the Bible say about physical health?
Bible Topic · WEB
The Bible teaches that physical health is a good gift from God, to be received with gratitude and stewarded for his glory, though it is not our highest good or a guarantee of godliness. Because believers belong to Christ, 1 Corinthians 6:19-20 calls us to honor God with our bodies rather than use them selfishly. Scripture commends wise care, gladness, moderation, nourishing provision, and prayer, as seen in Proverbs 17:22, Genesis 1:29, and 3 John 1:2. Yet 1 Timothy 4:8 places bodily training beneath godliness, which holds promise for this life and the life to come. In sickness and strength alike, Christians offer themselves to God and seek to glorify him in all they do (Romans 12:1-2; 1 Corinthians 10:31).
