What does the Bible say about remarrying the same person?

Bible Topic · WEB

The Bible teaches that marriage is a holy, lifelong covenant, and while reconciliation with a former spouse is often a godly hope, remarriage is governed by serious biblical limits. Jesus affirms that husband and wife are joined by God and should not be separated (Matthew 19:6). Paul urges separated spouses to remain unmarried or be reconciled (1 Corinthians 7:10-11). Deuteronomy 24:1-4 specifically forbids a man from taking back a former wife after she has married another man and that later marriage has ended. Scripture therefore calls believers to honor marriage, pursue repentance and peace where possible, and seek wise pastoral counsel in difficult cases.
