What does the Bible say about take care of yourself?

The Bible calls us to care for ourselves as God’s redeemed creatures, not in self-centeredness but in grateful stewardship for his glory and service to others. Our bodies belong to the Lord and are temples of the Holy Spirit, so 1 Corinthians 6:19-20 urges holiness and honor in how we use them. Scripture commends wise attention to physical health, rest, and godly nourishment, while reminding us that spiritual godliness has greater and lasting value (1 Timothy 4:8). Jesus invites the weary to come to him for rest (Matthew 11:28), and Proverbs 3:7-8 connects fearing the Lord with well-being. Yet self-care is rightly ordered by love for God and neighbor, doing all to God’s glory (1 Corinthians 10:31; Matthew 22:39).
