The Bible teaches that the cross of Jesus Christ is God’s decisive act of saving sinners, displaying both His holy justice and His redeeming love. Though the message of the cross seems foolish to the world, it is the power and wisdom of God for all who believe (1 Corinthians 1:18). Christ bore our sins in His body, satisfying the debt against us and reconciling us to God (1 Peter 2:24; Colossians 2:14; 1 John 2:2). Because He gave Himself for us, believers are united to Christ by faith, called to deny themselves and follow Him in grateful obedience (Galatians 2:20; Mark 8:34).
