What does the Bible say about the flesh?
Bible Topic · WEB
The Bible teaches that the flesh is our fallen, self-centered nature, opposed to God and unable to please him apart from his saving grace. Its works include sexual immorality, idolatry, hatred, and other sins that exclude the unrepentant from God's kingdom (Galatians 5:19-21; Romans 8:7-8). Yet believers are united to Christ, who loved them and gave himself for them (Galatians 2:20). By the Holy Spirit they are called to resist the flesh, put sin to death, flee sexual immorality, and sow toward the Spirit (Galatians 5:16-17, 24; Romans 8:13; 1 Corinthians 6:18; Galatians 6:8). This is not self-salvation, but the Spirit's ongoing work in those Christ has redeemed.
