What does the Bible say about unbelief?
Bible Topic · WEB
The Bible teaches that unbelief distrusts God’s word, questions his power and goodness, and brings serious judgment, while calling us to humble, persevering faith. In Exodus 4:1, Moses fears that Israel will not believe, showing the human tendency to doubt God’s revelation. Israel repeatedly tested the Lord in the wilderness, doubting his provision despite his mighty works, as Psalms 78:19-22, 32 and 106:7 recall. Even Moses and Aaron were disciplined at Meribah because they did not honor God as holy before the people (Numbers 20:12-13). Psalms 95:8-11 warns believers not to harden their hearts. Yet God’s faithfulness remains the sure ground of repentance and trust.
