What does the Bible say about when someone dies?

The Bible teaches that death is a real sorrow and the wages of sin, yet for those who trust in Christ it is not the end, because God gives eternal life and promises resurrection. Ecclesiastes 12:7 says the body returns to dust while the spirit returns to God, and Psalm 116:15 declares that the death of God’s saints is precious in his sight.
