What does the Bible say about wise counsel?

Bible Topic · WEB

The Bible teaches that wise counsel is a gracious means by which God guides His people, protects them from folly, and helps them walk in humility under His Word. Proverbs 12:15 contrasts the self-assured fool with the wise person who listens to advice, while Proverbs 11:14 and 15:22 show that safety and success are often found through many faithful counselors. Such counsel must be measured by God’s revealed truth, for the fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge (Proverbs 1:7), and His Word is a lamp to our feet (Psalms 119:105). We should receive instruction gladly, make plans prayerfully, and trust that the Lord’s purpose ultimately stands (Proverbs 19:20-21).
