What does the Bible say about your heart?
Bible Topic · WEB
The Bible teaches that your heart is the inner wellspring of your thoughts, desires, words, and actions, and therefore must be guarded and brought under the rule of God. Proverbs 4:20-23 calls us to treasure God’s words, for from the heart flow the issues of life. Jesus commands wholehearted love for God and genuine love for neighbor in Matthew 22:37-39, while teaching that our speech reveals what fills us within. God’s Word searches and exposes the heart, as Hebrews 4:12 declares. Yet believers are not left to themselves: the Holy Spirit anoints, teaches, convicts, and renews us. In Christ, God calls us from hypocrisy, bitterness, and self-righteous judgment to sincere faith, mercy, and obedient love.
