What does the Bible say about agency?
Bible Topic · WEB
The Bible teaches that God graciously works through human beings, calling and equipping them to serve his purposes while all true power and glory remain his. Job 33:14-30 shows God actively speaking, correcting, and rescuing people. Jesus calls ordinary disciples to become fishers of men in Matthew 4:19 and Luke 5:10, and sends his people as salt and light in Matthew 5:13-16. Believers may act with real authority, as in Luke 10:17, yet Jesus directs their joy toward salvation and God’s grace. John 15:16 teaches that Christ chooses and appoints his people to bear lasting fruit. God especially uses the weak and overlooked, as 1 Corinthians 1:26-29 declares, so no one may boast before him.
