The Bible presents preaching as God’s appointed means of proclaiming his Word, calling sinners to repentance and faith, and building up his people through Christ. Noah was a herald of righteousness amid a corrupt world (2 Peter 2:5), while John the Baptist preached repentance in preparation for the Lord (Matthew 3:2; Mark 1:4). Jesus himself taught the crowds, proclaimed the kingdom, and called people to repent and believe the gospel (Matthew 5:1; Mark 1:15; Luke 5:3). Though Moses felt inadequate in speech, God promised to be with his mouth and teach him what to say (Exodus 4:10-12). Faithful preaching therefore depends not on human eloquence, but on God’s truth and power.
