The Bible teaches that cultivation and care of animals are God-given callings, to be pursued with diligent stewardship, humble dependence on his providence, and gratitude for his provision. God placed Adam in the garden to work and keep it, though sin brought toil, thorns, and sweat into human labor (Genesis 2:15; 3:17-19, 23). Yet the harvest remains a gift from the Lord, who gives rain and seasons and instructs people in wise cultivation (Jeremiah 5:24; Isaiah 28:26). Farmers and herdsmen should plan faithfully, know the condition of their flocks, and receive their livelihood as God’s mercy (Proverbs 27:23-27; Ecclesiastes 5:9). We sow diligently while trusting God for the increase (Ecclesiastes 11:6).
