The Bible teaches that God graciously calls His people to salvation in Christ and then summons them to live faithfully for His glory in every sphere of life. His calling rests on His purpose and grace, not on human merit, and His gifts and calling are irrevocable (2 Timothy 1:9; Romans 11:29). Believers are therefore urged to make their calling sure through growing obedience and Christian character (2 Peter 1:10). In Christ, God calls His people out of darkness to proclaim His excellencies (1 Peter 2:9), to walk humbly in unity and love (Ephesians 4:1-3), and to remain faithful in the circumstances in which He has placed them (1 Corinthians 7:17).
