In Genesis 3:14-19, the serpent, the ground, and human labor bear the consequences of the fall, while Genesis 3:15 gives the first promise that the serpent will ultimately be crushed. Cain’s curse in Genesis 4:11-16 shows sin’s alienating power, and other passages warn that God’s judgment is not to be treated lightly. Yet believers need not live under condemnation, for Christ bore the curse of sin for his people and secures their restoration.
