What does the Bible say about diseases?

Bible Topic · WEB

The Bible teaches that disease is a grievous feature of life in a fallen world, yet God remains sovereign, compassionate, and able to heal, sustain, and redeem his people through it. Exodus 15:26 and Exodus 23:25 show the Lord as the healer and protector of his covenant people, while Psalms 103:2-4 and Psalms 107:20 praise him for forgiveness and healing. God calls his people to humble repentance and prayer in 2 Chronicles 7:14, but Scripture does not make every illness a direct punishment for a particular sin. Even when healing is delayed, as in 2 Corinthians 12:7-10, Christ's grace is sufficient and his power is displayed in weakness.
