What does the Bible say about false prophets?

The Bible warns that false prophets and teachers distort God’s truth, often appearing convincing or even godly, and calls believers to test every message by God’s Word and the true gospel of Christ. Jesus warns in Matthew 7:15 and Matthew 24:11, 24 that deceivers may come in sheep’s clothing and lead many astray.
