What does the Bible say about fishes?

Bible Topic · WEB

The Bible presents fish as creatures made and sustained by God, signs of his wise providence, judgment, and abundant blessing. In Genesis 1:20-21, God creates the fish of the seas and declares his creation good, while Exodus 20:11 grounds Sabbath worship in the Lord who made sea and all within it. Job 12:8-9 and Psalm 69:34 call creation itself to testify to and praise its Maker. Fish also appear in God’s judgments, as in Exodus 7:18 and Ezekiel 29:5, showing that all creatures are under his rule. Yet Ezekiel 47:10 pictures restored waters full of fish, proclaiming the life-giving power of God’s redeeming grace.
