What does the Bible say about fratricide?

The Bible portrays the killing of a brother as a grievous sin against God and neighbor, exposing humanity’s fallen heart and inviting God’s righteous judgment. Cain’s murder of Abel in Genesis 4:8 becomes the foundational example, and God declares that Abel’s blood cries out from the ground. Later accounts of Abimelech’s slaughter of his brothers in Judges 9:5, Absalom’s command to kill Amnon in 2 Samuel 13:28-29, Solomon’s judgment on Adonijah in 1 Kings 2:23-25, and Jehoram’s murder of his brothers in 2 Chronicles 21:4 show how ambition, revenge, and rivalry devastate families and kingdoms.
