The Bible commends wise, restrained stewardship of God’s gifts, warning against wasteful pleasure and urging prudent provision, generosity, and trust in the Lord. Proverbs 21:20 praises storing wisely rather than consuming everything at once, while Proverbs 21:17 warns that love of luxury leads to want. Proverbs 22:3 commends foresight, and Proverbs 12:27 rebukes squandering what one has. Yet biblical frugality is not fearful hoarding: Proverbs 13:22 envisions providing for future generations, and Proverbs 11:16 honors gracious generosity.
