What does the Bible say about holy of holies?

Bible Topic · WEB

The Bible teaches that the Holy of Holies was the most sacred inner sanctuary, where God uniquely displayed his holy presence and where atonement was made for sin. In Exodus 26:31-33, the veil separated this room from the rest of the tabernacle, declaring that sinful people cannot casually enter God’s presence. The high priest entered only once each year, with sacrificial blood, to make atonement for himself and the people, as Leviticus 16:2-3, 16:33 explains. Yet this earthly sanctuary pointed beyond itself: Hebrews 9:3 identifies it as part of the old covenant’s symbolic worship. Through Christ’s once-for-all sacrifice, believers now draw near to God with confidence, not by their own merit, but through the cleansing blood of their perfect High Priest.
