What does the Bible say about love and compassion?
Bible Topic · WEB
The Bible teaches that love and compassion flow from God’s own character and are to mark all who have received His grace in Christ. God showed the highest love by giving His Son for sinners, as John 3:16 declares, and His mercy forgives, redeems, and crowns His people with steadfast love, according to Psalms 103:2-4. Jesus commands His disciples to love one another as He has loved them in John 13:34. This love is sincere, patient, kind, enduring, and joined to humility and tenderhearted mercy, as Romans 12:9, 1 Corinthians 13:4-7, Colossians 3:12, and 1 Peter 3:8 teach. Such compassion does not excuse evil, but hates it and seeks faithful, upright living.
