What does the Bible say about physical healing?
Bible Topic · WEB
The Bible teaches that God is compassionate toward the sick, able to heal according to his wise will, and faithful to sustain his people whether healing comes now or awaits the resurrection. Psalm 103:2-4 praises the Lord who forgives and heals, while Jeremiah 17:14 teaches us to pray, “Heal me, O Lord.” Christ bore our sins in his body, securing our deepest healing from sin and reconciliation with God, as Isaiah 53:5 and 1 Peter 2:24 proclaim. Yet believers are not promised immediate recovery in every case: Paul learned that God’s grace was sufficient in weakness (2 Corinthians 12:9-10). We may therefore ask boldly for healing, trust God’s providence, use ordinary means, and rest in his final restoration.

He has said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Most gladly therefore I will rather glory in my weaknesses, that the power of Christ may rest on me. Therefore I take pleasure in weaknesses, in injuries, in necessities, in persecutions, and in distresses, for Christ’s sake. For when I am weak, then am I strong.
